Heritage, Hope, Home

Heritage.  Hope.  Home.   Three words that convey a message reflective of the 85 years of Hayes Barton Baptist Church’s ministries, missions, and members.  “Heritage” is a reminder of our history and tradition of freedom and faith; “hope,” a prompt to think about the promise of our future; “home,” a word that speaks to the fellowship and love that we find today as members of Hayes Barton Baptist Church, truly “a home away from home” in a time when such is often needed.
Our logo for this year's celebration centers on a church steeple. The importance of the church steeple is noted in historical recounts of the rebuilding of Hayes Barton Baptist Church after a fire back in the 1960s. The steeple, reaching 149 feet into the sky, stands tall on the Five Points landscape of Raleigh, North Carolina, and strongly communicates, much like the original church building back in 1928, that “the Baptist have arrived at Five Points.”
“Here’s the church; here’s the steeple; open the doors; and see all the people.”  A church is more than its steeple and, hence, the logo includes more than a steeple.  The words “Heritage,” “Hope,” and “Home” are prominently displayed and comprise our theme with each word emphasizing an important quality that marks Hayes Barton Baptist Church.   Importantly, the words also align with our timeless values of “Faith, Hope, and Love” as we have a Heritage of Faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, He is the One of gives us Hope, and He is Love in all ways, always.
From now through Thanksgiving, “Heritage, “Hope,” and “Home” will be highlighted as we move toward our celebration day of Sunday, November 6, 2011, one day before our official anniversary day of November 7.  Our blog will offer 85 stories from September 1, 2011, to November 24, 2011, Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Day is traditionally a day of celebration at Hayes Barton Baptist Church with a community service of thankfulness for all of God's blessings.
Enjoy reading our blog and celebrating with us.  To God Be All the Glory!
